News: Announcing Roasting
Days! Watch on FaceBook and find when we will be
roasting fresh coffee. We can roast about 15 lbs per
hour on our new Artisan 2.5 roaster from
CoffeeCrafters. We are thankful to an investor for
the purchase of this amazing way to create flavor
profiles for fine and subtle flavors of gourmet
coffee. We have never tasted anything like it - and
encourage you to taste the difference it makes to
have freshly roasted coffee. Enjoy!
Artisan Roasters and Fluid Bed Profiles - You
pour green coffee beans in the bean holder, which is
just beneath the see-through cage. Above the cage is
a silver hoot connected to a beautiful red duct.
Once the beans are in place, the hood is rotated
back over the cage. Then, the air force is adjusted
so that the beans float. Not too high! If you float
them too high, they fly up to the silver hood and
get captured by the exhaust and are gone forever.
As soon as the beans are floating, turn on the heat. I have been using settings of 8 or 9 and inbetween. This allows for an 8 to 12 minute roast depending on how cool the machine is to begin with and what type of roast you are going for. Most of our roasts have been in the City + to Full City +.
I have been documenting the beans at 1 minute intervals beginning at 1' 30". As the beans begin to cook, they change color to a yellowish green then to a yellowish brown then to brown. The darker the brown the darker the roast. Fully dark roasts are flavorful but lose flavor complexities. However, darker roasts have their own amazing delight.
Once the beans are done to your liking, you pour then into the cooler, to the right of the roaster. Open the exhause valve, and they will cool quickly. Fast cooling is essential to keeping the most flavor with the bean and letting none escapel. Yummy coffee is the result!
As you will notice in the picture, we placed the exhaust unit outside to cut down on noise during the roasting process. We use a switch inside the building to control the exhaust unit, so we can sample the newly roasted product immediately.
Young Girl Enjoys IceCream FireShot Coffee - Addi
Grace Douglas accepted the offer of a FireShot Ice
Cream gourmet coffee. She pretty much kept that cup
up there until it was empty! She proclaimed the Ice
Cream coffee is amazing and excellent. We add
copious amounts of half-and-half, a generous amount
of Wyoming sugar, and then a layer of gourmet
coffee, and stir lightly. I had one myself. It was
flavorful and a favoriate of several patrons both
young and old.
When we open the up-and-coming FireShot Coffee Shop, should we offer FireShot Ice-Cream coffee? What do you think? After seeing how the initial marketing tests went, we started charging $2.00 for a small the $3.00 for a large Ice Cream FireShot Coffee, in order to pay for the materials - and get us closer to opening day!
We did have a few that tried Mocha and Cinnamon flavored FireShot Ice Cream Coffee. What would be your favorite? What new flavors should we offer? Email us and let us know.
KickStaerter Campaign - Moving to the next
level will be due to the results of the next
invesement. Right now, we are selling coffee using
the generous Wyoming Cottage laws. The next step
will be to construct a compliant kitchen and then be
able to sell wholesale and retail. This is an
exciting step for FireShot Coffee! Creating a
kitchen will require about $3,000 for the plumbing
and fixtures. We already have a refrigerator and
counter space. We just need the sinks and special
drain setup - and few other things. We are so
excited about this!
The rest of the KickStarter funds will go to construct an area for people to sit, congregate, read, enjoy the internet, or just some well-deserved and much-needed relative solitude sipping gourmet coffee. We are clearing out the front of our office space so it can be devoted to the FireShot Coffee Shop. (By the way, what should we call our FireShot Coffee Shop
For the last couple of months, we have sold FireShot Coffee bags and given away countless free samples of coffee at the wonderful Worland Farmer's Market. We got a lot of buz from this - including the coffee buzz lol - pun intended. We also got a lot of excellent feedback that we appreciate and implemented. One implementation was being able to obtain a roaster and begin using fresh roasted coffee. But this has given us some statistics such as about 1 in 4 people who sample the coffee buy something. They either buy some coffee-by-the-cup or buy a bag or moth or more! This lets us know we actually have something worth pursuing.
